WATERMARK...A Bed and Breakfast
by guest Cindy L. Kern, Country Discovery

Butterflies, dragonflies, frogs, birds and the Chesapeake
Bay. What more could you ask for in a restful vacation
for two?
Just call "Mr. Mac". He's the sole proprietor
of the Watermark Bed and Breakfast located just outside
Historic St. Michaels, Maryland on the Eastern Shore
of the Chesapeake Bay. Mr. Mac has teamed with Mother
Nature to create a wonderfully secluded, romantic getaway.
Your stay at this private, rustic-looking log home right
on the bay is complete with an in-ground swimming pool
in the yard and Jacuzzi located in your own glass enclosed
porch. The door to your suite is adorned with a duck
head door pull. From there you enter the sitting area
and hallway which is complete with furniture that Mr.
Mac has hand-crafted. The bedroom is tastefully decorated
to complement the feel of being in another world - away
from life's hustle and bustle. A queen-size bed and
remote control cable television remind you that you
are still attached to present day, but the fantastic
view of the Chesapeake Bay quickly makes you forget
it all!
The Watermark Bed and Breakfast is located on State
Route 33 approximately 7 miles south of St. Michaels.
A secluded oasis amidst gum trees is complete with three
stocked ponds, a waterfall, a wildflower field and a
dock on the Bay. Bring your favorite book or magazine
and sit a spell while you soak up the tranquility that
these peaceful, nature filled spots have to offer as
a variety of wildlife calls these 5 acres home. In fact,
Watermark Bed and Breakfast was certified in 1992 by
the State of Maryland Resource Conservation Service
as a Maryland Wild Acre program for the care and protection
of Maryland's wildlife.
And if communing with nature isn't enough, there are
many nearby areas to enjoy sightseeing and shopping.
St. Michael's offers a variety of specialty and unique
shoppes where you're bound to find something to tickle
your fancy. South of St. Michael's is Tilghman Island
boasting its bay cruises. You can learn about the Bay's
ecosystem or perhaps charter a midnight champagne cruise!
Need some exercise? Golf courses are aplenty in this
area of the Eastern Shore. Whatever you choose to do,
keep in mind that Maryland's Eastern Shore is known
for its seafood. Come sample the wonderful selections
that the many varied restaurants in this area have to
offer.
The Watermark Bed and Breakfast is open
year-round with many special events throughout the year.
Don't forget that November is the Waterfowl Festival
in the Bay area! Mark your calendars now. |
